Loadtec Engineered Systems, the UK-based specialist in bulk fluids handling and fall prevention systems, hosted their first networking luncheon in Singapore together with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) to promote the company and its products and services in the Asia-Pacific region.
The event closely followed the Tank Storage Asia 2015 Conference held in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, where Loadtec Managing Director Alec Keeler was chairing the second day of the conference. Spread over two days (29-30 September), this was billed as the leading event for the Asian tank storage industry and also marked the second year for Loadtec exhibiting at the event. Both the conference and exhibition were well attended, with visitor numbers up 40% from last year.
The networking luncheon, a first for Loadtec, was held in Eden Hall – this prestigious and beautiful venue has played host not only to visiting British royalty and statesmen, it is also known as one of the island nation’s most exclusive properties. Sitting on Nassim Road, now home to several embassies and private mansions, this event offers expatriates and locals a rare glimpse into the beautiful home of the current British High Commissioner in Singapore.
The event was organised with the help of the local UKTI in Singapore with the introduction to the Singapore team made by Loadtec’s International Trade Adviser (ITA) Michael Salmon who is based in the UK and working with the company on its export strategy.
“We have been working with UKTI since 2013 and in October that year, the UKTI organised an Oil and Gas Trade Mission to Vietnam, which we participated in,” said Sue Keeler, Director of Loadtec. “We went to a number of events which were hosted by the British Consulate and British Embassy in Vietnam and found their support invaluable.”
“Following the exhibition, we felt it would be good to network with our many contacts in the region, they certainly appreciated the setting of such a lovely, historic building. The team at the Consulate were fabulous and helped to make the event very special.”
On arrival, guests were treated to British tea and biscuits (as you would expect) in the garden room before moving on to the impressive ballroom. Loadtec and its MD were introduced to the audience by Judi Leon, Director of UKTI Singapore, who gave an interesting overview of the role of her department in Singapore.
Alec Keeler proceeded to make a short but interesting presentation on ‘Working on Tankers: Is your terminal safe for your employees?’ to the audience, which included guests from local engineering houses as well as regional representatives of big corporations such as WorleyParsons, BASF, Stepan and Amec Foster Wheeler, to name a few. The event was also attended by the local office of the Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and independent consulting groups.
Colin Alexander, Director of Operations and Business Development at the KB Associates Group of Companies, one of the attendees at the event described the presentation as “extremely interesting and thought provoking”. The presentation was followed by lunch where attendees proceeded to enjoy a buffet of local and international delights while taking the chance to network with other professionals working in the industry.
“We feel a customer-focused networking event like this is important to a company like Loadtec and the timing could not be more perfect as the company is moving up another level in our growth especially in export sales,” Alec Keeler commented. “We are honoured to have had the opportunity to host our event in a little piece of Britain here in Singapore and with the success of this event; we look forward to hosting other similar events around the world for our current and potential clients.”
Loadtec launched its new website www.loadtec.co.uk in mid-September, prior to the exhibition and event. Potential and current customers of Loadtec can now navigate the full range of the company’s products and services not just via product categories but also through the many industry sectors Loadtec operates in.
At the same time, the company brochure was given a brand new look, with the aim of providing customers with not just vital information about its products but with fresh, new images of the products installed and working on customers’ sites, demonstrating how Loadtec is able to bring much-needed depth of knowledge of the industry’s needs when it comes to transferring bulk liquids and tanker top access systems.
High resolution images of the images at the event are available for publication purposes.
Next event: The Loadtec team will be attending the Tank Storage Association (TSA) Conference & Exhibition on Thursday, 15th October 2015, at the E.On Lounge of the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. Come and meet the team at stand 36.
