Mobile Access Cart
Mobile Access Cart by Carbis Loadtec provides safe and reliable access to tanker tops. It is a subject of increasing concern to all engineers and safety managers involved in bulk liquid transfer. The Carbis mobile access cart, or TC10, is designed to provide drivers and operators with flexible and safe access to tankers of varying heights to sample or load products.
Constructed in either aluminium or carbon steel, these mobile platforms can easily be moved around a loading bay by one person or longer distances with a tractor. Wheels can be specified to run parallel to the tanker for areas where space is limited.
The TC10 Access cart can be supplied in two formats.
- Standard, where the cart is pushed up to the tanker perpendicular to the tanker centreline
- Side Mount. The cart is pushed along the side of the tanker. This is used in areas with insufficient space on either side of the tanker for easy clearance.
The Access Cart consists of an aluminium flat-step extension ladder with open serrated metal plank steps, giving an un-extended height of 3m under the platform up to an extended height of 5m under the platform.
The large (1.6m wide X 2.14m long X 1m deep) cage is attached to a 0.46m wide X 0.725m long platform at the top of the ladder. The cage has a 0.4m walk surface on the inboard side.
The access cart is fitted with 16″ foam-filled wheels to provide easy mobility. Levelling jacks at each corner give a stable and firm base for safe ladder extension. The ladder is extended and retracted using a simple hand winch operation, and the cart can be easily moved around the site using a steering handle with a tow bar.
The Mobile Access Cart is supplied with CE certification and ATEX compliance.
Fall risk in the industry
901 non-fatal employee accidental falls happened in the transport and storage industry during 2013/14 in the UK. Carbis Loadtec’s mobile access cart can take away the risk associated with occasional tanker access.
