Bitumen Loading Arms
Bitumen Loading Arms by Carbis Loadtec offers a sensible solution to the many technical challenges operators are facing when handling this product.
The issue with Bitumen or Asphalt is that it needs to be maintained at a very high temperature. Depending on the type of Bitumen being transferred, this can be anywhere between 160 oC and 220oC. This requires the loading arm to be heated, even when it isn’t in use.
If the displaced vapours from top loading require safe collection and routing, Carbis Loadtec recommends a Parallel Loading Arm. This dual-pipe design allows the vapour line to maintain the same process conditions as the liquid line, assisting gas flow and avoiding pockets of condensation. Using a hose return system makes the loading arm vulnerable to high maintenance frequency and potential failure in the vapour recovery aspect.
Carbis Loadtec provides electrical trace, steam or hot oil jackets to ensure the temperature is maintained. However, modern electrical trace systems offer sufficient heat, compact design and reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Along with insulation and cladding, this loading arm provides secure and easy handling for operators and an option to upgrade to full Autoload®.
Increasingly, Carbis Loadtec has supplied Metering and control packages for Bitumen / Asphalt to clients looking to find a single source for tanker loading, safe access and metering.
The specifications for Bitumen Loading Arms are very wide and varied. They depend on whether the liquid is toxic, corrosive, flammable, edible or pharmaceutical. In any case, Carbis Loadtec can provide solutions for your Chemical Tanker Loading problems.
If you need to load or empty tankers at your site and want to know the best, safest and cleanest way to do it, please contact Carbis Loadtec and we would be delighted to assist.
